Who We Are . . . 

 

In 2000 a small group of Harlingen women set out to raise funds for the American Cancer Society by coordinating a unique fundraising event. A year later, with the generous support of local businesses, community members and table designers, Dining by Design hosted its first event.

 

Nearly $25,000 was donated thru a daytime luncheon and style show. Since the first event in 2001, Dining by Design has evolved into a full-scale production that includes a daytime preview and an evening dinner, that combined host nearly a 1,000 people each year. This event draws designers from across the Rio Grande Valley and Central Texas - allowing them to create beautiful tables benefiting a wonderful charity. While heralded as a fun and festive event, our mission remains the same - to support the American Cancer Society.

 

We are proud of Dining by Design and all that it represents. In the 15+ years since its inception, well over half a million dollars in net proceeds have been donated to the Rio Grande Valley chapter of the American Cancer Society.   Last year, we grossed more than 3 times the amount raised at our inaugural event.
